I haven’t been to here in 30 days exactly. So given I was actually in town this weekend, I wanted to get back to Boulder. JV and I went up the back at a casual pace. I was working and labored through a few sections. Time away from the hills requires payback. Started spinning my wheels a bit in the uncondensed snow above the cabin. We went to the hike through some sections there. I was nursing my ankle and he was watching his Achilles so we were a pair to be reckoned with!
Summit #4 for the year! Pathetic. But staying away has helped my ankle recover. That sloshing in the snow isn’t good right now.
I was planning on Bear for the decent but he wanted to get home because he is Twin Daddy. So we went down the front. Some great snow down that route. You get that perfect dig with your spikes and your heel just crushes in the snow to ease the landings. Nice. Said goodbye then I tacked on a bit of out and back on the Mesa just to get the miles in I wanted for the day. Lots of hikers out there. Just cruised nice and slow.
Got back home and ate lunch and did a 2-fer before dinner. Hard to resist being outside when the weather is so nice right now.
However, the big test of the day was the hip. I wanted to see what 2 hours would do to it. And I got a firm result — it hurt. I wanted a sign before I go through with the shot this week that I am still needing to pursue this. Today showed that its still there. I ran 2 hours on it. It hurt. I might have been able to run 3. But 6, 8, 12, 20 more? No fucking way. So I will continue with treatment this week and see how it goes.
I went 9.56 miles with an elevation gain of 3,149 feet in 02:06:58, which is an average pace of 13:17. Heart rate average was 144. View my GPS data on Garmin Connect.
