Ssshhh. Doctor said not to run uphill but I couldn’t help but get my fix here. So nice and warm at 7:00 AM during sunrise. The natives are in coats, hats and gloves. It is winter.
Found Brett about a mile up the trail. He was in town for work as am I so he came out to pace me up the first mile. Said hi but then he had to turn around to get to work for a meeting. Found Glenn 13 minutes up the trail. He had gotten their early so I told him to get on with it and I would catch up. I could see him up head and then closed the gap to run side by side through the majority of the middle trail. Hung with him at his pace for the next 20 minutes then fired it up to the summit a bit quicker for a stronger finish.
A view of where the water stops in the south part of the San Francisco Bay.
The sun started to rise as we came up the hill but it was blocked by the peak itself. Finally by the summit I got a full view of the heat source with the summit marker in the foreground.
Here comes Glenn in white up the trail.
Had a good chat on the descent. Did a few miles on the streets after to round up the time and miles. Ankle felt great on the whole run until the last few yards of the day. Bad news is that I don’t have easy access to ice here with no freezer in the hotel room. Hip felt odd on the descent but wasn’t interfering. I don’t want to jump the gun but I felt stronger today and less injury burden.
I went 7.82 miles with an elevation gain of 2,259 feet in 01:28:20, which is an average pace of 11:17. Heart rate average was 130. View my GPS data on Garmin Connect.
