Rub My ButtDuring the 20 yesterday, the hip was not well. Its not terrible. I can run on it. But it feels like there is a finite distance it will tolerate and surely that number is less than 100.
Back for my 2nd massage of the week…
My new therapist is working well with me. After the hour on Monday, I went back for another hour today. I had more data for her on exactly where it hurt and how. I laid on my side for most of the session again. She worked down into my hip, butt, and quad. Mostly driving her elbow into me. My IT band is not the issue here. I was suspect on and off but never figured it was that. It didn’t hurt that way. Apparently, on runners…and me being one of those…my IT band is really large and particularly tight. There are many muscles in the leg that attach to it and lie beside it. One called the vastus lateralis muscle is basically behind it and its hard to get to. But after some good work on getting my other leg muscles relaxed, she was able to dig into that sucker…and I about came off the table. Ouch! That’s it. My hip twitched, my knee burnt…the source of the problem was found.

So we continued for the rest of the session working that area. I tell you its like a workout. I have to do deep breathing while she is rubbing it down. I am not sure exactly what tweaked this sucker but its not happy. I think its getting better though and massage is helping that along. I resentfully took the day off to let the muscle stay as relaxed as I could for the day. I will give it a 4+ hour test tomorrow and see how it goes.
