Run: Attempt #1 (4.77 mi @ 10:28)2 days off so far. Friday and Saturday. We had stuff going on with Sydney’s birthday so it was easy to stay busy. I anticipated going for that swim last night but found out that the pool closes at 6 PM on weekends. Oh well. Guess I wasn’t that into the idea anyway. I felt better yesterday so I did have some hopes of just not doing anything and getting back into a groove sooner anyway.
Woke up today and it feels better again. Flexing toes towards the sky is all good now. Pointing to the floor still hurts but not until I am completely flat out like if I was doing a ballerina tip-toe move. It was a warm day and my mind convinced my body it was time to test it out. I thew on some shorts and my VFFs and jumped outside. Took it real slow through the neighborhood. A touch quicker once I hit the dirt road. No pain, but a dull ache. I could run on this. When I thought about other things, it didn’t even bother me.
I went up the hill by the high school with no issues. Made the turn to go back downhill — its a road…nothing steep — and ouch! It doesn’t like that. Whatever in the leg that deals with the downhill motion is what hurts. It wasn’t happy. So I walked to the bottom and then tried to get going again. Didn’t feel great. So from there I alternated walking and running for about 2 miles back home as not to piss anything off. Walking sort of hurts worse in that your foot tends to go through a bigger range of motion than slow running.
Felt completely pissed off yet somewhat encouraged. Depended what moment you asked me about it. If its 3 miles of good running today, followed by 4 tomorrow, then 5. I will take it. Just keep progressing back up the chain as long as the healing continues. I hope that is the deal. I just don’t want to sit for a week and wait on it. Fuck that noise. I had 50 on the brain today.
Will see what tomorrow brings.
I went 4.77 miles with an elevation gain of 96 feet in 00:49:54, which is an average pace of 10:28. Heart rate average was 113. View my GPS data on Garmin Connect.
