Permalink I Borked It

Ouch

Fine! You told me so. Oh well.

It hurts right there, Doctor. Ran on it the last few days but its not getting any better even with going from single runs to 2-fers to cover the same distance. Hence, I took an off-day today. I was 15 straight covering about 200 miles so its kind of a bummer. Sure, I was chasing numbers but that is what was currently motivating me to step it up for my biggest summer ever. But I would rather go into the races with my fitness of today healthy, than some higher level of fitness hurt.

So what is it? It came on a few days ago. I thought it was some sort of ankle twist. Usually just run through those. But its up the leg now. Ankle is fine. Feels much like a shin splint. I had those before higher on the inner calf. This is more front/outside right where the ankle starts. It impacts my ability to move my foot up and down as in toes pointing to floor or ceiling. Figure its just overuse. No gear changes.

I slept in my Plantar Fasciitis boot last night thinking that might help it. Nada. Felt worse this morning because of it. Too rigid I guess. Gave it a shot. Icing it and staying off it now. Vitamin I too. Feel kind of gimpy walking around but I totally could run on it if I wanted to. That motion doesn’t seem to bother it during but probably adds to the pain after. So I better stay in front of it by staying off it.

Tomorrow I will re-assess. If its still mad, I will go to plan B. Triathlon training! Hit the pool on Saturday, then the bike on Sunday. Keep alternating until I feel its getting better. Keeping my aerobic levels built up but the concrete pounding down. Some cross training should do me good. The bummer is the numbers but I guess this is why you shouldn’t chase them. It catches up with you and you lose…sometimes.
