Run: 12 x 400m Fast wu/cd10 days to go…
Dropped Kim’s car off in town so I got a point to point route home that would cover this distance needed along a bike path. Felt that would be the best bet for a decent flat course. Had a headwind. Jumped hard out of the shoot on the first few and fell flat towards the end. Middle of the set I was more controlled but it was harder to get the HR into range. By the end, HR wasn’t rising up there anymore and my legs were spent. I got the desired effect from the workout I think but not my favorite thing to do. Got better once I got into it and let my body experience it.
The splits were on the high side of the range according McMillan Running Calculator based on marathon goal pace. That seems good given taper has started and I wasn’t in peak form at sea level today. So I will take it.
My TSB is rising faster than I would like for this many days to go. That means I need to step up the effort for the weekend. I am debating a mountain run just to get the lungs breathing again. I feel like its a good thing. Not quite fresh yet but mostly because I am not getting proper sleep because of the Hawaii time change, late night baby stuff, middle of the night dog potty, and wake-up calls from the kids. Hope to get something more substantial and feel more rested soon. Otherwise, I will have to continue to take Red Bull shots during work to stay awake. Did that today!
I went 7.89 miles with an elevation gain of 124 feet in 01:10:56, which is an average pace of 08:59. Heart rate average was 139. View my GPS data on Garmin Connect.
