Run: Diamond Head (9.00 mi @ 08:29)After finally getting up Diamond Head yesterday, I woke up early and was back on the street with me gear after sunrise ready to roll again. Where to go? Um, I kinda liked that run yesterday so…back to Diamond Head. Hey, repetition is a good thing. I cruised down Waikiki which was once again full of runners. Who are all these people? Its good company but many of them are working so hard. Big huge strides with iPods and Nike Air Shox. Who are these people? Good to see you out but…never mind. I motored through them all and once out around the crater found myself alone. Started up the Crater Road as buses of tourists came whizzing by me. Yesterday, this place was empty. Today, not so much. I hit my timer in the same spot and charged uphill. Not as fresh as yesterday but I knew the path after yesterday so I was all out. I rounded up the switchbacks and the traffic increased. It was thick in a few spots. This is not a race course, so I slowed as not to trample any elderly on my attempt to PR. I was all out going up the flight of 200+ steps. That burnt. I got caught behind another group and saw my PR slip away. Oh well. Summit — then a nice break.
I went 9.00 miles with an elevation gain of 1,118 feet in 01:16:30, which is an average pace of 08:29. Heart rate average was 132. View my GPS data on Garmin Connect.
