Run: Green Mountain (5.25 mi)Before I called out readers in yesterday’s post, I wanted to be sure I delivered something interesting. The 100 mile week was one way to do that — because you usually don’t see those in March! For the record, it was not my record weekly total. I did that last year but I have plans to break that in the coming months. Anyway, thanks for the chatter!
I did get feedback both in the comments, in email, and in person that basically said, “Dude, I don’t know what you are talking about 1/2 the time”. I get it. Graphs hurt your head. I will limit them to the weekly report until Boston. But, here is my take. I wouldn’t be anywhere close to where I am now in this sport if I didn’t utilize the knowledge and experiences of my friends, peers, community, and other random people that don’t know who I am. I am a student of their methods. I mashup what I learn from all of them and apply what works for me to improve. I want to know “how they make the sausage”. In return, I am posting how I “make the sausage”. Its my recipe. Its my way of paying it back.
Some runners have natural talent and are just fast. They don’t have to spend time with this crap. However, my mind likes to help guide my body and I do that with my engineering background by applying some analytical thinking to the process. I am a geek. And I am applying that to my running. Its my way of using all my skills to improve my ability. Enjoy it or ignore it as you will.
Back to today….I know, it was supposed to be a recovery day. But I couldn’t pass up a trip up Green since the kids were out of school and the normal life schedule didn’t apply today. I never get to go with JV after work so I thought it would be a good day to get a late run in. Started slow talking with JV and Aron but then quickly remembered I was there to get a solid workout in. So I up’d the effort to the lodge and then waited on the guys. Then ran it decent to the summit. Had to walk the slope since it was mush. So ready to rip a PR there on dry trails. I was able to sit on the summit and bask in the spring sun. Enjoy the view and the antics!
