Permalink Weekly Training Summary (59.49 miles / 8:20:26)

Fully on the plan this week. Nailed all of the key workouts. Took up the mileage on the easier days a bit from what the plan prescribed. Breakdown…

Mon - Slow 14M
Tue - Slow 9M
Wed - Green Mountain
Thu - 5 x 1M Fast
Fri - Steady 8M
Sat - Easy 6M
Sun - Brisk 8M

Overall, I was happy with the result. Feeling stronger but not faster. Getting through the workouts with no fails. That interval day seemed to kick the next few days up a notch since my legs learned what speed is about again. Hoping that continues. Total miles is a bit shorter of everyone else and that bums me out a bit. But that Green Mountain day is about a 1.5 hour deal so that should be good for maybe 11 or 12 miles instead of 5+. I should look at overall time more often. You can’t judge mileage totals in the hills at all. Plus, my long runs haven’t really started building yet. I could advance them but haven’t wanted to jump ahead yet. I don’t want to burn out later on.

Only got to the hills one time this week purposely. Opted not to go on Saturday but go on Monday (tomorrow) for MLK day instead. More free time that way. Anyone wanna go? Thinking about 2 peaks but might settle for one. Probably start up Gregory by 9.

My weight is steady in the 144-145 range. I was maybe a pound or so less on the start line at Denver. So very happy I have maintained but sort of bummed that I have dropped. I think the reason is two fold. 1) You don’t get that raw water loss in the winter from sweat. So you don’t drop that 4-5 pounds on a long run. 2) I haven’t been on the juice all month. No caffeine. Well, twice. Kim brought me Chick-fil-A a couple times for lunch and I took the diet soda. Oddly, not satisfying. But I am 100% water at restaurants and a combo of VitaminWater, milk, water, and Mexican orange soda at home. I think the net effect is that my metabolism has slowed a tick because the caffeine is not in my system. Might take a while for it to adapt. Not sure if I will go back. However, it gets easier to quit every time.

Sydney is still selling cookies. Get yours today! That might not help my weight. Thin mints! Yum.

Anyway, this week should be a pretty standard week. Holiday on Monday. Good mid-week mileage. Get my balls chopped on Friday…

Yep, Friday at 2:30PM. Ladies, mark your calendars. I plan on getting a run in before the event. Then I will be sitting on a bag of frozen peas all weekend. I haven’t quite figured out when to start running again after. But I will talk with the doctor on Friday. At least the weekend and probably a few more days. A week is going to be tough. But it was now or never. Another offspring would be a much bigger delay in my training plans than sitting around for a week in January. You may send cards and flowers to my balls at this address. We will see if the doctor will let me live stream it!

Stay heavy.
