Camp Hummingbird

A Day in the Life2 Comments

The kids and I have a 3 day weekend so we figured we should do something. We were reminiscing on our spring break last year so we decide to return to Camp Hummingbird for a night in the mountains. The place can only be booked for Friday and Saturday nights in the winter. Saturday was full so we went for Friday instead. We arrived before sunset to a deserted campground. Perfectly quiet and all to ourselves. Well, not quiet anymore after these two show up!

We decided on a hot dinner of Tacos al Carbon de Pollo. I was on grill duty outside. This little sucker wasn’t quite cooking fast enough. However, if I sat right in a certain spot on the deck while cooking, I could get 1/2 a bar of reception which was enough to see what the interwebs were up to that night.

This was actually Baby’s 2nd time there. She was “in utero” the first time. She did better than her sisters ever did their first time out in the woods — but this was a step up from a tent.

After dinner, we played a bunch of games and then turned in. Slept OK. Never the most comfortable bed but it is probably because I am used to my King and when Kayla, Kim and the dog all get on too, it gets tight. We got up late, had breakfast, and packed it out. Annual family shot on the deck. +1 kid, -1 dog from last year.

Nice! You might dig the yurts up in the Never Summer Nordic area (Jackson County) too.
