Run: Slow 14M (14.03 mi @ 08:05)Progressing up the long run chain. This was not a big deal today. Probably took it slower than I should have. Felt tight the whole time. I think the ice/snow makes you run carefully and keeps me rigid. Also a bit tired in the legs from yesterday’s run.
HR was really low. Avg 134. Never could get it up today or didn’t want to. However, I went back and looked at a long run from last fall (20M though) and I ran this same pace but at 143 average HR. So I was a good 9 beats slower per minute today and I could have kept going for hours. Fitness improvement? Seems as so. Running the same speed at a lower HR is a great thing.
My right knee has been tweaky lately. Outside, just below the “ball” there. Not sure what to make of it yet. New shoes? More Green Mountain? A slip here or there? I do nothing these days for prevention — no stretching, no rolling, nothing. It seems to work for now.
And my Garmin 405 rose from the dead! The battery drained to zero last night (cause it was stuck in active mode on screen). I put it on the charger this morning. It booted right up. Testing seemed to prove its functional. Got my data from yesterday too. All is well. Saves me a little “running budget” coin for now — which I MAY need for Friday morning…say 7 AM — but surely this thing will die someday.
I went 14.03 miles with an elevation gain of 697 feet in 01:53:35, which is an average pace of 08:05. View my GPS data on Garmin Connect.
