Colorado is crazy. Woke up to the sunniest skies ever but something wasn’t right.

Oh, it is negative double digit temps. But the sun is bright as hell. And we got a few inches of snow last night. The roads are not plowed because it wasn’t really a big deal. Hmmm.

I had a fast intervals workout on the books for today and I needed to run it. I didn’t want to go out and freeze my lungs and damage my throat (I sound like a smoker post-run). So I did it — I went to the basement and dusted off the treadmill. First time in maybe 2 years. Not a single treadmill mile in 2009. But today, it seemed like a reasonable alternative. I would have run outside if this workout wasn’t scheduled but to stay on track, I needed this. So with shorts and new LunaTrainers, I set out on this non-adventure. I put a Metallica concert on the big theater screen to keep me company. Had my Garmin 405 track my HR because that is how I do my intervals. Watched the distance on the treadmill and I was off.

The good part of the treadmill for intervals is that it holds you to pace the whole time. I did flutter the speed up and down a bit as I ran each one. I noticed 1/2 through that the incline was set at 1.0 but I left it since it added to the workout. In honor of GZ, I kept my snot to myself. Actually, didn’t develop any. That was a nice change! Had to keep remembering not to spit on the carpet though. Guess I do that a lot more than I thought when running.

I went 8.75 miles with an elevation gain of ~462 feet in 01:08:56, which is an average pace of 07:51. View my GPS data.
