Permalink Run: Mount Sanitas x 2 (6.08 mi)

Back to Sanitas. Thought it might be a PR day. However, I was set on not being so jerky on the throttle today. Much more smooth. So I went out that way to see how it would feel and play out. I felt like I ran more of the hill today and I was finally able to get some decent speed in on the final set of steps where I am usually gassed. I hit the watch at the top — 20:19. 12 seconds slower than last week. Oh well. It was a solid effort but I definitely didn’t attack the mountain like I did last week.

This seems to be my trend on Sanitas. Super hard, new PR. Then a bit more controlled the next few weeks but the time comes in near or at the PR by the end of the cycle. So overall, I feel like I was faster today but the clock didn’t show it. I still have until year end to hit this goal so plenty of time there. But I don’t just want to get 7 seconds shaved off. I want to PR by 30-60 seconds. Enough talk about that. I suck — for today. I will be back.

Did anyone see the live tracking? It didn’t pick up as many data points as I would have liked but you could see me moving around the mountain. Seemed like a success.

Last night, we were invited to the Longmont Chick-fil-A Premiere night. This is a pre-opening event where the new staff gets to serve their first customers and work out the kinks. Friends of ours from the kid’s school are the owner/operators of this so we had the hot ticket in town. They gave us a bunch of free coupons while there that we have to distribute to Longmont-ers. Who wants free food? The place officially opens on Thursday — but apparanetly Chick-fil-A does this deal where they allow a line to form 24 hours before their opening. People get in line. The first 100 people there when the doors open get free Chick-fil-A for a year (52 free meal coupons). I thought — not bad — maybe I will jog over their at like 5:50 AM on Thursday morning and get in line and get a couple hundred in free coupons. Seems worthwhile!

Until I drove by today — the parking lot is full of freeloaders camping out in the parking lot! They have tents setup. Music playing. Whiffle ball and hackey sack games going on. So apparently these people have nothing better to do than sit in a fast food parking lot for up to 24 hours and wait to get coupons! The bad news is the fine print — if over 100 people show up — the a lottery begins for the 100 winners. So maybe I should still show up. If at least 101 people are there, then they camped out for NOTHING! Ha!
