Run: Union Reservoir (10.38 mi @ 07:52)Really choppy start. Pit stop. Better after. Slower day. Felt good. Pace is still faster than “normal” slow pace. I think after Denver, my body adjusted and this is the new slow pace. I like the sound of that. I barely look at my watch and see 8s now. How cool is that. I used to do that with 9s!
In my spare time, I have been hacking on something that I put up today on the blog: Live GPS Tracking! I tried to do this before with my SPOT but that thing is shit for running. So I found another way and coded it up. Can be used for anything: runs, travel, biking, etc. So now, when a live broadcast is going on, this new banner shows up on the blog.
And it sends out a tweet too — so you don’t have to check the blog all the time. Then you click through to the tracker page which looks like this.
Has the basic stats up top on location, last update time, speed, heading, etc. Then the map continuously updates in the background — no refresh needed!
What’s the point of this? I don’t know. Seems like something I just had to solve for myself but I can see it becoming more useful soon. As I start into those longer long runs, I may need support. Now Kim can pull this up on her iPhone and get my most recent location and heading and intersect me with supplies. Sure, she could call me — but what fun is that! Live tracking at races? Might be fun. Couldn’t make the start of the group run but want to meet up 1/2 way? See where we are.
Tomorrow is the usual workout — Sanitas. Sub-20? Lucho said I suck if I don’t get it. Motivation! Hey, you can watch too now I guess. Look for me getting out there around 9 AM.
Now, how can I stream a video feed too? Hmmm….
I went 10.38 miles with an elevation gain of 356 feet in 01:21:41, which is an average pace of 07:52. View my GPS data.
