Permalink Run: Slow 0M (0.00 Mi)

Remember the good ole days…when a rest day was like “hell yeah”. How times have changed. Today was clearly — well, fuck — I just want to go run but I can’t. Hence the sign of the day!

No Running

My taper for the last few days before the race has routinely been 2 days off cold, run 2 miles the day before, then race. This time I am changing it. Not for the sake of experimenting but because I think it is the right answer. Took today off. Getting back out tomorrow for about 30 minutes of slow. Then will probably do 15-30 slow on Saturday with a stride or two, then race. I need to get my sluggish body moving again. I feel like I am on calorie overload even though I haven’t been eating much. My digestive system now relies on running to keep things “moving” — so when I don’t run, I get gassy and bloated feeling. Anyway, that’s the plan. I think is all good. Nothing hurts and everythign feels topped off. Just could use more sleep — worked late 2 nights in a row.

In other wicked awesome news, the weather is lining up just perfectly for Sunday. Hourly shows 43 at 6 AM (we start at 7) and 56 at 9 AM. Wind 5-7 MPH. Should be perfect. Thinking singlet and no gloves at this point. I sort of want to ditch the HR monitor to have less distractions because it really doesn’t matter — but I want the data. I want to see if I am capping myself or not at this pace because I am starting to think I can go faster than goal but it isn’t worth anything to try. Just seal the BQ deal. Then bust out a better time at Boston. And I just re-read the BQ rules and this race time is going to be good for 2 trips there. Score!

Yahoo! Weather

I may party like this dude apparently did all night long after the race!

All you people getting H1N1…stay the fuck away from me for 2 more days. I am inside my house wearing a mask. Thank god this stuff isn’t transmittable from within Facebook. All those people have it.

Spent the evening at the Rec Center letting the kids swim. I soaked my feet in the hot tub most of the time. I have a few nicks that I would like some healing to occur on. Chlorine does wonders. Some lady had big “prayer hands” tattooed between her boobs. What’s that all about? Funny how bad tattoos to some are beautiful to others. I keep wanting to go for mine but haven’t committed. I am way over the “have it the rest of your life” part. Whatever….we played with fish.

Bib pickup tomorrow or Saturday. Probably go Saturday so I can keep the kids busy downtown for a bit. What’s there to do? They want to do some Halloween stuff but not sure if there is anything yet. The zoo thing is on Halloween this year…and the day after. Thank god because I think I need to run a secret mountain marathon on Halloween with a few of my closest running bro friends. I would tell you more about it but it is a secret. The first rule of this race is that you don’t talk about this race. That is going to make it hard to blog about! Looks like their might be a registration fee for outsiders — eventually.

Hearing about more folks that are going to be out there this weekend. Simon will be out cheering on Kelly. I asked him for some race photos — hopefully he doesn’t charge me $30 for a coffee mug with my photo on it. GZ is coming out to run the relay but I bet he tags at the switch and keeps running the rest of the course. Overachiever! A few other folks I have never met in person said they would be out there watching or racing as well.

First things, first though. Get my bib, finish project Daddy Daycare, then race!

Slipknot…give me some words:

There’s no reason, there’s no lesson
No time like the present, telling you right now
What have you got to lose, what have you got to lose
Except your soul…
