Permalink Weekly Training Summary

I decided the daily running updates were too boring for my blog for now. Plus, Garmin Connect is bugging me. So I killed the daily update in favor of the weekly format once again. Just mixing things up. If you like it or hate it, let me know.

So it was the week post-Leadville. I got out every day for 7 runs totaling 49.34 miles. Not a bad recovery week. Every single step of that was either at Slow (135-145 BPM) or Easy (125-135) pace. It took some getting used to. However, by the end of the week, I enjoyed the fact that the run doesn’t kill you and you don’t have to take any pauses. That was nice. Felt strong although the paces are a minute plus off of normal. So don’t think a wheel fell off or anything — just doing what I am told by the schedule. Will return to the full schedule this week with intervals and tempo as prescribed by the plan. That should put some fast runs back on the charts.

Been steadily shedding a few pounds here and there with the load and the heat. Most runs are conducted at high noon when temps are about 95 degrees. Makes for maximum sweat. I got a scale for the garage and I am going to start to weight myself before and after the runs. Need to start understanding how I process fluids.

Otherwise, my gut has felt really good. Colon blow-out number 3 this week and then that program is done. Might have just done the trick.

Bought 2 new pairs of shoes today at BRC — replacement Nike marathon shoes and some Lunatrainers. Needed to rotate in some new shoes.

Debating trying some 2fers this week to push up the totals.

Kind of itching to climb this coming weekend. Might be the last time before I have to stay with “baby range”.
