Permalink Post Race Changes

1. Somebody (probably my mother) got me thinking about my Diet Mountain Dew consumption. It is a liter a day during the summer. I chase it with a Red Bull most afternoons. It is an unquenchable thirst. The only solution? More Mountain Dew. More caffeine. For some reason when my stomach was killing me on Mount Evans, I made a pact to get off the stuff and see if that is the cause. Since then, my head is pounding constantly by mid-afternoon. I am drinking gallons of non-caffeinated drinks (mostly water) and it isn’t solving the problem. I also tend to think there is a chemical reaction in diet drinks that makes you retain weight so you continue to drink them. Conspiracy theories on the net. Well, let’s see. So I plan to go at least a week without the juice and see what effect it has. Might continue. Might not. Just curious what will happen.

2. I am going to start wearing my HR monitor again this week. It has been 2 years. I have no clue what a given pace does for my HR. Time to find out. GZ has me worried that I am spinning my wheels. So collect data. Analyze. Another checkpoint in a week.

3. Mount Evans. I thought about her today. How next year I will have to pay her back for what she did to me on race day. Or maybe not. It is weird how the pain goes away quickly and you want to give it another go.

4. I took the automatic maps off my daily runs because another person told me that my blog looks too geeky. FF said it looked like a “science lab” a couple months back. You can still click through to get to them on the permalink page for the activity.

5. I need to be on the trails more. It is summer for god sakes. Last week was a great start.
