Run: Hills x 12 @ Sandstone (6.86 mi)It was a 90 degree day and the plan said Hills x 12. I haven’t done hill repeats all year. Wasn’t looking forward to it. Not sure why. Something about repeating 12 of anything gets boring. So I decided to take my video camera and see what I could make of it. Figured it was one way to keep myself busy and interested. So I setup the camera on the route and let it go. It isn’t often you can setup a camera and run by it over and over. It is no Indulgence, but it is a start.
Two key events were not captured on film. 1) I got bit by some bug and my calf is itchy, red and hurts. The skin is all hard now. 2) I got chased by a daddy goose on my warm down lap. I would have caught this on film from a distance but the tripod blew over from the wind. Oh well. I think it would have been funny because I had to haul ass to get away from it.
I wanted to have some fun editing so I added effects and sound to spice up the run. Really…why would you want to watch the same hill repeat 12 times? Now, you see why I didn’t want to do them. But I tried to make commentary from time to time to keep it interesting. My wife came in while I was editing and asked “what are you doing?”. Uh, nothing. She then went on to say that she thinks I make these video because “you like to hear yourself talk”. Ok, maybe. Just trying to get better for future race videos.
