Permalink Now Geocode Enabled

More GPS integration! For all my blogs that involve my GPS, I have the coordinates of the location that is the subject of the post. I have been storing them in the database, but not doing anything with them. For other posts, the coordinates are easy to find with a Google Map. So I created a quick interface in Movable Type to expose, view and edit the geocode for each blog entry. I then went back through as many old entries as I could and made sure that I had good data for them. Here is an example of the data entry screen. This blog post was done via Brightkite so the geocode is done for me for free.

To display it all, I came up with an interactive map that shows the location of many of my blog posts. This is coming in handy as I often know where something occurred but can’t seem to get the search just right to find it. I have linked the map in my sidebar so you and I can always find it. Here is a screen capture. I added handy little zoom shortcuts to the top right for places I need to zoom in on often. Click through to see the live version. Let me know what you think.
