Family Hike at Panorama PointNatalee and Kyle were set to leave this afternoon. The weather was supposed to be wet this morning but we awoke to sunny skies. Anyone want to hike? Figured Kyle thought we were nuts. Can't we sit still? Uh, nope. So we packed up the kids, the dogs, and the guests and headed out for a quick hike. But some of us couldn't resist a little trail running.
Kyle's knee was bruised from skiing so he was concerned about hiking. But I assured him with a 3 and 5 year old, 2 sniffing dogs, and one pregnant woman, the pace wasn't going to be too grueling. We made it about 1.5 miles, which was good for a crew of this size. I took no chances from the start. I put Reagan in the backpack and we were off.
Hurry up, already! Turns out there was a deer leg with hoof and bloody meat just up the trail. Leave it to the beagles to find that. Everyone looked. Said yuck and moved on.
Time for some rock climbing. Hey, how did you get up there!
But Reagan had enough and wanted back in her backpack. Take me home! This kid doesn't like to be outside, I swear. Oh wait, there is one thing she does like -- hanging with Mom.
Group shot!
After the shot, we noticed the Dakota over sniffing/eating something. What is it? Oh, the spine of the thing we saw the leg of earlier.
One the way back down, the leg was gone. Who took that? We found it 100 yards down the trail. Somebody drug it down the trail for a while. And with that, the Indiana folks needed to go home -- didn't want to explain to any Moms back there how someone was killed on a Sunday morning stroll.
