I Got Serious About SiriusAfter I left California, there was no more Howard Stern morning show for me. Here in Colorado, a bunch of advocacy groups got him thrown off years ago.
I got my Dad a Sirius receiver for Christmas. He was a Howard Stern fan via the E! TV show. I don’t think he ever heard the show otherwise. I wanted one for me!
So since Stern went live on January 9th, I have been “sampling” and “obtaining” the show via Internet. Gotta love the Internet. However, one show I wanted to hear got messed up and you couldn’t find a good copy of it. Damn pirates! So with that and the desire to be clean and get the rest of the content, I went and picked up a receiver last weekend.
I hooked it up in my office. I piped the audio out into my line-in of my sound card. Then I use Total Recorder to TiVo the show. Stern starts at 4 AM for me on the east coast feed. This allows me to have an MP3 of each show and I pause and listen to the show throughout the day in between calls and meetings. Or I can take it on the iPod. Perfect. The only interesting piece in the install was the need to drill through the wall to mount the little antennae outside of the house. I couldn’t get a consistent signal from inside of the window sill.

The Stern show has been better than ever. I don’t have any co-workers in my office so I like having this on through the day for my water cooler talk.
BTW, some of the music channels on Sirius are awesome. I love 20-Octane the best. Its every album I own and all the ones I want.
