Free Dessert
My wife demanded that I take the kids out for diner by myself last night. So we went over to Red Robin. Its normally successful there. I enjoy taking the kids out but I always get looks from folks. Our table looks like some kind of madness going on with this helpless father trying to keep everyone happy. 2 woman asked me if I needed help at one point. Maybe it was when Sydney was using the long stretch of booth seating as a running track.
Last night, this couple was sitting down next to us. They were enjoying this massive sized portion of some mud pie for dessert. Not my choice, but looked good. They had just talked to their server about something but they didn’t say much to each other but they just kept spooning away very methodically. When they were done eating, the manager came over and apologized for the mud pie not being up to standards and explained how they ship them in versus make them in house. He took the dessert off the check and apologized.
Through all that, I just kept staring at the empty plate that they had licked clean. I mean no crumbs anywhere! I am all for sending it back but you can’t do that if you eat it all.
