HDCPWith HD DVD around the corner, I have been working it in as a thought during any electronics purchases. Will I have to change something in a year? Should I wait on this purchase? I have been glossing over this HDCP discussion lately but then last night it finally caught my eye. Now I have the understanding that my HDTV I bought in 2002 won’t support HD DVD. That sucks. But further more, my computer monitors won’t either? That isn’t killing me because I have yet to watch too many DVDs on my home computer anyway (other than on the airplane). When I bought my theater projector, I briefly saw it supported HDCP but then didn’t question it too much. That would have been a costly mistake to miss. Just wanted to be sure others were aware of this. I am sure it will be heating up in the media more and more when HD DVD starts coming out — hopefully next year!
Have found a switcher device that will pass authentication key to DVD player, thus display does not need to be HDCP compliant.
