Permalink I Am Hiring

You don’t hear that often these days do you? Well, I am serious. I have had lousy luck trying to find a candidate through the normal channels. Why not try through the blogosphere? I am sure you, or your friend, or your friend of a friend might be interested.

The position is based in Silicon Valley at Cisco Systems’ headquarters. You will work with a team of software engineers to build a bigger, badder, better Cisco MeetingPlace. MeetingPlace is Cisco’s conferencing solution. It is used every minute of every day by millions of people all over the world. If you haven’t been paying attention, Voice Over IP (VoIP) is poised to take over the world in the next few years and you can be part of the revolution! Cisco is steadily gaining marketshare to become the number one provider of telephony systems.

I am looking for someone with kick ass web development skills. This isn’t just designing cool blog pages — this is everything from front-end to back-end development. We work with technologies every day like — HTML, JavaScript, Applets, XML, HTTP, C++, Java, COM, InstallShield, Servlets, Windows, Linux, JSF, ISAPI, WMA, SOAP, VB…and more! Do you know what all those are? That is a good start. We have written 1,000,000+ lines of code in a variety of those technologies to build this product to date and this is just the beginning.

Anyway, if you have questions or if you are interested or if you know someone that might be interested, drop me a line or leave a comment. The search is on!

That sounds like an awesome job. Unfortunately I'm still in college and still studying for my first of many Cisco certifications - CCNA.
Otherwise I'd definitely be applyin'.

Brandon Fuller

I don't think you would like it...you have to make things work in Firefox and IE (unlike your blog). :)

Ouch. Twist the knife, why don't ya? :)

I haven't really worked too hard on cross-browser compatibility because I'm not working towards being a web-designer. It's just a hobby. I'm working towards being a Network Engineer.

But you're probably right. I've taken a class in Visual Basic, and looking at all those lines of code left me mentally exhausted.

Got a friend (Brown CS masters graduate) who is interested, or at least was 3 months ago (but has since found a job in DC). He kicks very very decent, if not quite maximum, ass. If you're still looking for somebody come June, I'd recommend him highly. Or you can try to steal him now =P

Brandon Fuller

Cool. Send him on.

brandon, i respectfully decline to apply for the position, but i've taken the liberty of posting this entry to the MIT EECS jobs email list, which goes out to around a thousand [under]grads... i'd be careful, though... some of those undergrads can be kinda lazy ;) and weird too.... really weird...

Brandon Fuller

Thanks. I got a few resumes within minutes. When do you graduate? :)

Brandon Fuller
