LifeBridge Still SucksIts been a while since I have updated the blog on the mega-church called LifeBridge that is planned for the property behind our house. So here is the update.
We filed a lawsuit (106A4) in Weld County court. The litigation challenges the decision by the county commissioners to approve the zoning. The basis of the suit is that the law was not followed in regards to the public notification process for the hearings. If we win, the zoning will go back to ground zero and the church will have to start over and re-zone. This would happen after the November elections so some new commissioners would be elected. If the church wins, then they will move on to seek one additional approval on their final plat entitlement from the county before starting development on the land. The goal is to have a decision from the judge in late summer.
In a recent church newsletter that we got a hold of, they state that:
1. They will develop 240 acres of residential housing around the church.
2. They will be selling 2-6 acre light industrial land plots on the property.
3. They will build out 1.2M square foot of commerical and retail space on the property.
How does a church find itself in the real estate business at such a large scope?
My favorite line in the newsletter is where they discuss the lawsuit:
God has provided us with some additional time (as a result of the litigation) to continue to evaluate the master site design.
That was sure nice of God. But will you be disappointed when God decides that you lose the lawsuit? Or will that just be the work of the evil-doers over in my neighborhood again? The implication by the church that people who are against this church in our neighboorhood are evil has really set some people off. This is how the Killdozer gets started!
dude, stop messing with god. otherwise your computers will become infected with locusts and frogs and your basement will flood for 40 days and 40 nights.
Killdozer, sweet!!! I couldn't stop laughing after reading that tagline.
What I want to know is, why does the church need 1.2 million sq ft of land? That's just f--ed up when there are starving kids somewhere that need food, clothing and education. Let's worship, but in really nice house while others are poor and starving. God doesn't care how nice the house is, heaven I'm sure is infinitely nicer.
