Its nearly 40 degrees up here at Vail today. Spring skiing has begun. I hadn’t been to Vail this year.

So since Wes was visiting, I decided it was a great time to go and a good place to introduce him to Colorado snow. Wes is documenting his trip over here.

On the first few runs, the lifts were packed and it was hot. Sweating while skiing is better than freezing but it not that much fun. But when we hit the back bowls I remembered why Vail rules — it so huge! The people are everywhere but they are so spread out on the massive mountain that you can have a groove all to yourself. In this picture, you will see black dots on the adjacent mountain. Those are people.

We hit a new section in the back that I hadn’t ever been on. The resort had put these new runs through a nice section of trees that was spread out. It was like the Olympic downhill with 50 foot trees as poles!

This might have been my last time out this season. Not sure. The snow isn’t getting any better and I am out of visitors. Can’t wait till Sydney can ski!
