Permalink Technology Evolution

You know sometimes I get tired of being an early adopter of new technology. It gets expensive. You always end up buying twice it seems lately — once for the first cool release of the product and the second time for the mainstream one that everybody else has.

I ordered this armband for my iPod. I got it today but it turns out its only for the new iPods. What us old original iPodders not good enough? Now, if I pay to return the thing I am out 15 bucks in total shipping vs. keeping it as a dust collector for 20 bucks. Anybody want it? Maybe I am supposed to buy a new iPod. What do I do with my old one? eBay might be the place. Anyone wanting a first generation 10 GB iPod? I might make you a good deal.

In other upgrade news, the first generation of the TiVo HDTV tuners come out next month. Gotta have that. Seems lots of people have HDTVs now but nobody is using them for HDTV. Once I buy that, I will have more TiVos than TVs. What better signifies the importance of this device? So another garage sale item — a TiVo with lifetime service. I might make you a good deal.

Finally, I am getting the PDA itch again. I had a stack of them but I distributed them as hand-me down Christmas presents a few years ago. Now these new PDAs have Wi-Fi and BlueTooth built right in. The main reason I have the itch is for GPS. My truck did not come with GPS and the GPS in the 2004 model sucks. They don’t let you type in the navigation points unless the truck is in park.

Too many toys. I need to get back to work to pay for this stuff.
