Resume UpdatedSo, today was my first day as a Cisco employee. Feels very different — not. I realized last night how cool an acquistion really is — at least this one. First off, you get to work with the same people on the same stuff. This could be good or bad I suppose depending on your situation. For me, its good. In addition, you get a bit of a fresh start. I updated my resume last night — not because I am looking for a new job but because I like to keep my “records” up to date. I always tell my co-workers to do this because when you look back over a period of a few years, its hard to remember some of the things you should have written down on your resume. Its better to do a yearly assessment.
Plus, this helps bring closure to the last 5 years of my work life with Latitude and opens up a new chapter as Cisco. I always had this mental issue of “I only want to work in one place for 5 years”. After about that long, people start wondering why you are still hanging around. Now, with this change, I feel like the clock is reset.
So now I am off to fight the battle which plagues Cisco Systems — and that is to prove to everyone that we are not the company that delivers food service products to restaurants. Geez. 1/2 the time I say we were acquired by Cisco I either get the response of “Oh them…I lost a ton of money in that stock after the crash” or I get the puzzled look that indicates the confusion over what conferencing has to do with food service products. This could be a long 5 years. ;)
Speaking of food, do you guys still deliver in less than 30 minutes or it's FREE?
Oh, and by the way, get your ass to work. Cisco used to trade at $ 97.00 a share.
Geeezzzz.... I get the same "food service people" response from all of my family back across Wisconsin....
Geez. I got you a 8x return on Latitude ($0.50 to $3.95) and now you want only a 4x gain on Cisco. You are getting too easy.
