Permalink Staind

In the 2nd of the summer concert series, I wanted to go see Staind.  This would be my 3rd time seeing them.  The show in Denver ended up being a Budweiser/radio deal where you had to win tickets.  So I decided to drive up to Cheyenne, Wyoming to see them tonight.  Its about 65 miles up there from here straight north on I-25.  They are having Frontier Days there this week which is Wyoming’s big rodeo deal.  Its constant bull, horse, etc. riding everyday for the next week.  That and all the “fair” type stuff you would expect.  Anyway, I ran up there and got there in the middle of Static-X’s set.  Seen them before.  Getting better.  The kids loved them.  Must be growing a fan base.  Staind finally got on at after 10.  They played a lot of their new stuff — which I am not as fond of but then got into some older stuff as time went on.  They reedemed themselves by playing Spleen — which I was shorted the last time I saw them in San Jose.  All the bands made jokes that they were not sure what to expect when they were told they were going to play a rodeo.

The thing that sucked was the layout.  Its hurts when you see a show in a place not designed for a concert.  Here they setup the stage just off of one of the sets of stands.  In front of the stage, there was this standing room area —- the “floor” — where I had tickets for.  It was shaped like a cigarette carton so it was long and narrow.  So everybody was near the front but it was a pain to move around because you had to exit and the very far away ends.  Strange.  ]

The dude by me at one point had a shirt on that read:  Rehab is for quitters.

As I drove home, the lightening was everywhere.  If you haven’t seen Colorado lightening, you are missing out.  Since you can see for miles, it just lights the entire horizon up.  Amazing.

Oh, then as I pull off the Interstate near my home, I see this big white sign with black letters that reads:  Freedom Town — Stay the hell away from Del Camino!   Freedom is the town we are trying to form.  Del Camino is the name of the area around the Interstate.  Guess they don’t like us.  I love a good fight.

Natalee was going to see Dave Attell tonight in Indy.  Hope she gives a report.
